When I was a kid, I had a lot of dreams about what I wanted to do later in life. I either wanted to become an astronaut or a famous musician. I used to build rocket ships out of cardboard boxes and prepare performances for anyone willing to listen (bless those people that actually listened).
Since the release of Dans Met Mij, I actually felt for the first time like I was moving towards one of those dreams. I’ve been working on building a career as an artist for years, and finally had a little bit of success with a track. For a little while, I felt that same feeling I had as a child: dreaming without being limited by life knowledge.
This track is about that feeling. It has a nostalgic, almost childish melody, and the lyrics are about having big, big dreams.
This track has a funny story. In the Netherlands, we have K3: three women who make songs for children. When I was 7, I was obviously a big fan. They recently announced a reunion concert, which I’m going to, and that made me listen to their music again for the first time in years.
At some point, I heard this one phrase that I thought was so cute, and it just stuck with me. I kept going over it in my head for a week before I finally had time to actually do something with it.
It turned into more of a trance-inspired track, but still with Dutch vocals. The vibe is more like 7am wasted going to home singing this while biking kind of stuff.
I’ll finish it soon…
